ICAI requests govt to change its name to Institute of Cost and Management Accountants


HYDERABAD: The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) on Sunday urged the federal government to rename the institute as The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants as per the worldwide norm.

“Everywhere in the world our occupation is named value and administration accountants, subsequently we request the federal government to change it to The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India,” ICAI president Biswarup Basu mentioned through the inauguration of a brand new ICAI facility in Hyderabad.

Even S Papa Rao, chairman-SIRC (South Indian Regional Council) & central council member, ICAI, identified that the name ICAI was given by Britishers. “However they too have modified the name of their institute twice – firstly to the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants and later Chartered institute of Management Accountants. We now have been pursuing the federal government to change our name to Institute of Cost and Management Accountants however are experiencing bureaucratic delays,” he rued.

Moreover, Basu additionally identified that ICAI has began incorporating rising applied sciences corresponding to Synthetic Intelligence, Blockchain, Cyber Safety and Information analytics in its curriculum.

ICAI has 111 chapters throughout India and eleven abroad centres and it has over 5 lakh college students.
