The Speedy previous Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has been arrested.
Based on the police, the previous governor, presently, the senator representing Imo West Senatorial district, was taken into custody to clarify why he led a mob to interrupt into the federal government sealed Royal Palm Spring Property alongside Akachi Highway, Owerri, the state capital.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed this to newsmen in Owerri.
He stated that the police moved to Akachi street once they obtained a misery name that the property earlier sealed by the state authorities has been violently opened by males led by the senator.
“The command obtained a misery name relating to what we termed to be an unrest at Royal Spring Palm Property,” Ikeokwu stated. “We found Okorocha led some individuals to the place hitherto sealed by the Imo authorities. The command calmed the state of affairs and invited Okorocha, to return and clarify why he led the violent breaking into the property that led to damages.”
Steve Asunobi, Lasbery Anyanwu and Ijeoma Igboanusi, among the senator’s former political appointees had been reported to have been arrested together with him.
The state Commissioner for Lands, Enyinnaya Onuegbu, had on Friday, stated the federal government had recovered the property on Akachi Highway, Owerri, allegedly belonging to Okorocha’s spouse, Nkechi.
